Getting your life on track and Living with Momentum begins with a decision: a decision to be better today than you were yesterday, and being content exactly where you are. It begins with accepting that where you are is exactly the result of your choices, your attitude, and your behavior. Some things may have “happened” to you, but most likely they are rooted in some decisions you made yourself.
I see so many people who look to a better tomorrow, a better house, a better husband, a better income for some potential happiness. They think “If only…(fill in the blank) my life would be so much better/easier. The sad thing is that there will be no achievement that will fill that “If Only” syndrome. Acquiring a better house will only spur the desire for a nicer car. A better husband will lead to a desire for a more romantic one. And so the list goes on. Until you find yourself content with what you have, who you love, and who you are right now, there will always be an incurable desire for something other than what you have.
The Living with Momentum Method takes you from where you are to where you want to go, all while improving wherever you happen to be. It accepts that you want to have more and be more than you are right now but keeps you focused on what is at hand while you are getting there.
Like artists, we have a general idea of what we are trying to create (the long term vision). We have to focus our ability on the details to get the result we are looking for, occasionally stepping back to see the progress and the areas in need of attention. If we only focus on the details (the immediate, and urgent) we miss the bigger vision and create something we are not happy with. If we only stand back, observing that we really need better light, or a better canvas, we don’t ever get anything done (wishful thinking).
